Welcome Longcoy Second Graders to the AT&T Classroom!

We are excited to welcome Longcoy Elementary (Kent City Schools) to the AT&T Classroom and we are looking forward to working with Mrs. Wollam and her second graders. The second graders started their morning with two Pear Deck activities. Pear Deck is a web-based platform for formative assessment that teachers can use to check students’ understanding during a lesson and to offer students an opportunity to share what they have learned about a specific concept or topic. Mrs. Wollam uses Pear Deck to create interactive lessons that can be shared with the students via their Longcoy Google accounts and Google Classroom
The second graders began with a Pear Deck to share what they hope to explore and learn while in the AT&T Classroom. During their science block, Mrs. Wollam shared a Pear Deck with the students to check their understanding of physics concepts related to push and pull and then the students explored the concepts with a hands-on activity with Lego bricks and magnets.

Later this morning the second graders were introduced to Book Creator. Book Creator is a multiplatform tool for creating digital interactive stories and books.  Students can add text choosing from over 50 fonts within the platform. Photos and images can be added from the device’s photo library, from the web or photos can be captured and inserted using the tablet’s camera. Students can also draw images using the pen tool. Books can also include video, music, and recorded narration. Finished books can be shared via email or uploaded for cloud storage via Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud. The second graders are using the Book Creator platform to create science journals where they can record photos and scientific notes regarding various physics experiments and projects. This morning the second graders used their Chromebook’s camera to take a digital photo of their Lego model and create their first entry.
