Rootstown 4th Graders Explore Fractions Operations with Dr. Karl Kosko

This morning during their math block in the AT&T Classroom the fourth graders had the opportunity to work with Dr. Karl Kosko, Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Kent State University. Building upon their previous work with fractions, Dr. Kosko led the students through a hands-on activity using Cuisenaire rods for practice with equivalent fractions. Dr. Kosko also introduced the students to the Fractions app accessible at the Math Learning Center website for practice with fraction addition and subtraction. The Fractions app is one of many free apps and resources available at the Math Learning Center website for students to use to strengthen their understanding of a wide range of math concepts.
