Continuing with their study of ancient civilizations, this morning in the AT&T Classroom the Woodridge fifth graders used Google Maps to explore the influence of geography on the Mayan civilization. The Google Maps for Education platform provides digital resources to help students develop important skills related to geography concepts, map reading, location finding, and distance measurement. The platform also offers tools students can use to explore and create multimedia map projects. This morning the students learned to use the mapping tools to plot locations of ancient sites and to add text and images to create placemarks to document the presence of hunters and gatherers in those locations.
