Collaboration & Invention with Edison Toy Robots

Over the past week, afternoon campers in the AT&T Classroom have been working with the Edisons to program solutions to increasingly complex robotic challenges. In addition to being programmable, the Edisons are LEGO brick-compatible and have built-in sensors, lights and sounds. With programming, the Edison is capable of several autonomous behaviors, which the campers explored throughout the camp. Using EdBlocks, a graphical programming language, campers were able to program the Edisons to complete challenges that required navigation, line-tracking, and obstacle-avoidance. The campers learned to program with EdBlocks to select the correct icons, actions, and durations, and then after testing their program, then adjust the program to correct any issues.
