AT&T Classroom Students Use Digital Tools to Reflect on Their School Year

With the 2017-18 school year coming to a close, students in the AT&T Classroom are creating
digital projects for reflection and remembrance of their year. The Cornerstone students are using Google Slides to create memory books of their year as first graders. Google Slides is a free Google productivity app for creating digital stories, presentations, reports, note cards, etc. The Google Slides application offers a wide variety of themes, templates, backgrounds, and fonts that the first graders can use to create their own customized memory book. Additionally, features within the application allow for slides to include text, images, hyperlinks and video. As the children are designing their books, their projects are automatically saved to their Google Drive account and can easily be shared and/or downloaded. The CDC kindergartners are using PicCollage to create a timeline of their school year. PicCollage is a free app that can be used to create collages from digital photos. Features of the app allow children to customize their collage by adding text, backgrounds, and stickers. The children are using photos taken across their kindergarten year to create their timelines. The kindergartners learned to use a grid template within the app to arrange their photos. The children also learned to use the app’s tools to create a caption for each photo and write about the memory/event associated with the photo.
