RCET Welcomes Rootstown Third Graders to the AT&T Classroom

RCET is excited to welcome Rootstown Elementary teacher Dawn Coffman and her third graders to the AT&T Classroom. This morning the third graders were introduced to Google Classroom, a learning platform designed to provide a safe digital learning space where teachers and students can communicate and share content. Within Google Classroom a teacher is able to create an assignment and choose how students complete the assignment (e.g., individually, small groups, whole class). A teacher can also view students’ work and progress on an assignment and provide feedback to individual students. The Stream feature within Google Classroom allows the teacher and students to post questions and replies. This morning Mrs. Coffman used the Stream feature to share a morning writing prompt with the students.
In addition to Google Classroom, the third graders also used Google Docs today. Google Docs is an online word processing tool also accessible for free in the G-Suite. Today the students explored the formatting tools and options that are available within Docs for use with their writing project.

The third graders are also using the ABCya website for math practice. ABCya is a free website that offers activities and games that target skills and concepts for several different subject areas for children in preschool through grade five.
The websites that the third graders are using can be accessed at the class’s Symbaloo site. Symbaloo is a free bookmarking tool and is particularly useful with younger grades as the icons provide an effective visual cue to help students recognize the site they need to access for a particular activity. You can access the third graders' Symbaloo at the following url: https://www.symbaloo.com/mix/rootstownroom
