We are so happy to welcome Streetsboro City Schools Wait Primary first graders and their teacher Ms. Amanda Kulik to the AT&T Classroom. Across the next four weeks the students will explore a variety of programs and applications to support their learning across the curriculum and to promote their use of twenty-first century skills for communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration. All of the online tools the students are using can be accessed through class's Symbaloo site. Symbaloo is a free visual bookmarking tool used by teachers to organize websites frequently used for specific subjects and/or projects. This afternoon the first graders were introduced to their class Symbaloo and learned to navigate the Symbaloo to access the online resources that have been bookmarked by Ms. Kulik. The class Symbaloo can be accessed from any device with a web browser at the following URL: http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/mskulikssymbaloo
Today first graders also logged into their Google Drive accounts where they were introduced to Google Drawings, one of the free cloud-based applications accessible in G Suite. The tools within Google Drawings can be used to create a variety of media and projects including drawings, diagrams, charts, maps, brochures, pamphlets, etc. In addition to designing and drawing images from scratch, external images can also be inserted and edited by adding marks, notations, drawings, etc. This afternoon the first graders learned to use some of tools accessible in Google Drawings to create and type within a text box and to search for and format images.
Later this afternoon Ms. Kulik introduced the first graders to Buncee EDU, a free multi-platform tool that children will be using for writing and multimedia projects. The platform offers an interactive digital canvas with thematic background templates that can be used to create stories, books, presentations, pamphlets, posters, etc. This afternoon Ms. Kulik demonstrated to the students how they can customize the templates by adding animations, pictures, text, drawings, and videos. The Buncee platform also offers a very large gallery of searchable media that students can use in their projects or students have the option to import external media from their computers or other websites. Completed Buncee projects can be printed, emailed, viewed online and/or saved as PDFs.
