RCET Welcomes Cornerstone Community School to the AT&T Classroom

RCET is so excited to be partnering with Cornerstone Community School (CCS) and to have Mrs. Lynn Hawes and her third graders participating in our AT&T Classroom. This morning after a brief introduction to the classroom, the students learned to use Padlet to compose a written reflection during their Daily Devotions. Padlet is a free web-based tool that functions as a virtual wall or bulletin board where people can exchange thoughts on a common topic. Users are able to post several forms of content to a Padlet wall including text, images, and videos. The collaborative nature of the tool allows all of the students to view one another’s posts. Today the students learned to use the text/typing feature within Padlet and also learned to capture and add a photo to their message.

Padlet along with the other websites that the third graders are using in the AT&T Classroom can be accessed at the class’s Symbaloo site. Symbaloo is a free bookmarking tool and is particularly useful with younger grades as the icons provide an effective visual cue to help students recognize the site they need to access for a particular activity. You can access the third graders' Symbaloo at the following url:

http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/ccsgrade3symbaloo

Once the page opens in your web browser, click on orange bar above the Symbaloo tiles labeled “Add this webmix” in order for the entire Symbaloo to load on your screen. As new sites are added to the class Symbaloo  over the next few weeks, you will need to refresh the page to load the updated Symbaloo.
