Maple Heights High Schools Create PSAs on College Admissions Process

It has been such a pleasure to work with students from Maple Heights High School this past week in the AT&T Classroom. The students were on the Kent State campus for a two-day institute offered by our  Office of Diversity, Outreach & Development in the College of Education, Health and Human Services. The institute provides a rich opportunity for high school students to learn about the college admissions process, interact with panels of current Kent State students and explore the undeniably beautiful Kent State campus and all the university has to offer. The students also spent part of each day in the AT&T Classroom where they were introduced to digital tools for creating interactive multimedia projects. The students collaborated in teams to create public service announcements (PSA)s for their classmates on important components of the college admissions process including admissions requirements and timelines, financial aid/FAFSA, Common Application, and ACT/SAT preparation & examination. The teams created their PSAs using Adobe Slate, and Buncee. Both tools are accessible online at no cost and offer capability for adding text, images, and video.  Buncee also allows for narration/voice over. The teams presented their PSAs  at the end of the second day and will share them back at Maple Heights to support their classmates in the admissions process.
