The past two days in the AT&T Classroom the CDC Kindergartners have been investigating the important elements of the LEGO WeDo Robotics kits and building expertise with the programming software. Today during their LEGO time, the kindergartners embarked on their first official project incorporating elements that add movement and sound. Working with their partners, the children focused on the LEGO’s Dancing Birds project that is designed to give children experiences with pulleys and belts. Using the drag-and-drop software, the students were able to build and program two mechanical birds that had a tweet sound activated when tilted and were motorized to dance using a pulley and belt drive system. The builders celebrated their accomplishment by dancing along with the birds!
