CDC Kindergartners Explore LEGO WeDo Robotics

This afternoon in the AT&T Classroom the CDC Kindergartners were introduced to the LEGO WeDo Robotics system. LEGO WeDo Robotics is a software-based system that combines traditional LEGO bricks with programming software to introduce the basic elements of coding to young children. The system includes a large variety of LEGO bricks and a LEGO USB Hub, motors, tilt sensors, and motion sensors that the students used in combination with the drag-and-drop software to program simple code that added movement and sound to their projects. This afternoon the children were introduced to the essential elements and tools within the LEGO WeDo Robotics kits including mixers, gears, motors, and USB connectors. Across the week the children will explore strategies for building and programming to create increasingly complex LEGO models.
