CDC Kindergartners Create Digital Stories with Sock Puppets

This afternoon in the AT&T Classroom the CDC Kindergartners finished and shared their Buncee Earth Day projects. Their work was outstanding and we cannot wait to share the projects with our Buncee Buddies in Oakland California. We also created a Padlet wall to share all of the children's Buncees. The Padlet wall can be accessed through the class Symbaloo and at the following URL:

Later in the afternoon the kindergartners explored a new literacy app. Sock Puppets is a free iOS app that allows children to explore creative storytelling by creating lip-synced puppet shows that can be shared on the iPad or via Facebook or YouTube. Children are able to select from a variety of hand puppet characters as well as themed backgrounds to create their own unique show. Using tools such as Sock Puppets to create digital stories provides opportunities for children to further develop their literacy skills (e.g., reading, writing, speaking & listening) and to also build important “twenty-first century skills” for critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication.
