Second Graders Create Popplet Concept Maps on Family Traditions

This morning in the AT&T Classroom Kent State student teacher Miss Abbi Bull led a social studies lesson focusing on family traditions for continued work on curriculum standards related to students’ abilities to recognize and describe how people within their community, state, and nation are both similar and different.  Each student created a Popplet to represent a tradition unique to their family. Popplet is a free tool that can be used to create concept maps, diagrams and outlines. For today’s Popplet  project, the students had to include a photo or image representing their family tradition. Students could draw their own image or use the online search function within the app to find and insert a photo or image from the web. Students also had to include written text describing their family tradition.
