RCET Welcomes New Campers to the LEGO WeDo Robotics Camp

This morning in the AT&T Classroom, RCET welcomed a new group of campers to our second LEGO WeDo Robotics camp. The LEGO WeDo system combines traditional LEGO bricks with programming software to introduce the basic elements of coding to children. Providing opportunities for children to learn coding and programming skills fosters their abilities for mathematical reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving. Today the campers reviewed physics concepts related to simple machines and were introduced to the LEGO WeDo system, the drag-and-drop software, and the various tools and pieces they will be using to create the project models. Across the week the children will explore strategies for building and programming to create increasingly complex LEGO models.Throughout the camp, we will be posting highlights on this blog and our Facebook page. At the end of the week, the campers will create a video in which they will share one of their favorite projects created in the camp. If you would like a copy of your child’s video, please send a jump drive/memory stick with your child on Thursday.
