This morning in the AT&T Classroom RCET kicked-off the final Spring session with Mrs. Nichols and her first graders from Riverview Elementary, Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools. Across the next six weeks, the first graders will be using a variety of digital tools within the Common Core areas of literacy and math. The first graders will begin each morning with a daily writing prompt using KidBlog. This morning the students posted to their blog for the first time and then afterwards came together as a group to share their writing samples and with one another by projecting the posts on the presentation screen.
The students also learned to use Educreations today to solve math story problems. Educreations is a free app that allows the ipad to record the student’s voice and his/her writing and drawing which can be saved for playback and/or shared online. Students are able to add images to their projects by drawing or inserting a photo taken from the Internet or captured with their iPad camera. The first graders used Educreations on the iPads to solve a math problem presented to them by Mrs. Nichols. The students solved the problem by writing the numbers and drawing images to accompany the problem and solution. The students shared their solutions with their classmates by projecting them with the document camera to the presentation screen.
