More Coding Adventures for Campus Second Graders

Today in the AT&T Classroom the Campus graders were introduced to two new tools for coding & programming—Lightbot and Scratch.

Lightbot is a free iOS app that is designed to introduce children to several basic elements of programming within the context of a puzzle-like game. By working through the puzzle, students use important problem solving skills and gain experience with programming concepts such as sequence, conditions, and loops.

Scratch  is a free web-based tool developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. Scratch can be used to program interactive stories, games and animations that can then be shared in the Scratch online community. It is a great tool for enhancing children’s creative and critical thinking and for encouraging collaboration. Younger children will enjoy the Scratch Jr.  app designed for ages 5-7.
