Campus Second Graders Explore Coding Tools in the AT&T Classroom

Several of Ms. Lomis’s second graders have expressed to her an interest in careers in computers and game design so this week the students will be introduced to the basics of coding. Today in the AT&T Classroom the students used the iOS app Hopscotch on the iPads. By manipulating simple drag and drop blocks, Hopscotch introduces students to fundamental programming concepts such as sequencing, abstraction, values and conditionals.  In addition to learning the basics of programming, learning to code also fosters children’s abilities for mathematical reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving.
