Campus Elementary Second Graders Use Evernote to Practice Reading Fluency

Today in RCET’s AT&T Classroom, Campus Elementary second graders learned to use the Evernote iOS app to practice reading fluency. Evernote is a web-based tool that is typically used for collecting and organizing notes, websites, images and other media. Among its many tools, Evernote offers a camera and an audio recording feature. The second graders each have a notebook in their teacher’s Evernote account where they are able to store their reading samples and other digital projects. To use Evernote for fluency practice, the students opened their notebook & hit the “+” icon to record a new note (their reading sample). The students then used the camera feature to take a photo of the assigned passage and then used the app’s microphone to record themselves reading the passage aloud. The app allows the students and teacher to be able to play back & listen to the passage to assess reading fluency.  Evernote can be accessed on any device with a web-browser and offers free and premium options.
