Lippman second graders and Fishcreek third graders have been using the
Educreations app in the AT&T Classroom to create their own math story
problems. Educreations is a free app that enables a tablet or PC to function as
an interactive whiteboard. The app allows the ipad to record the
student’s voice and his/her writing and drawing which can be saved for playback
and/or shared online. Students are able to add images to their projects by
drawing or inserting a photo taken from the Internet or captured with their ipad
camera. Educreations can be used to create stories, animations, and
presentations. This week in RCET’s AT&T Classroom, the children created
their own story problems, typed the text and then drew images to accompany the
problem and solution. Students added voiceover by recording themselves
presenting and solving the problem.
Educreations is available at no cost as an iOS app and as a web-based
tool for laptops and computers.
Two additional apps that
offer many of the same features as Educreations are ScreenChomp and ShowMe Interactive. Both tools are also available at no cost through the Apps
store.
