During their fifth
week in the AT&T Classroom, the Walls third graders explored story
elements. The ability to identify the elements of a story helps to
increase students’ reading comprehension skills and also leads students to a
deeper understanding and appreciation of stories. Additionally, when students
have a clear understanding of the elements of a story, they are able to write
stories of their own.
After
exploring the key concepts, the third graders shared their new
understanding of story elements by creating their own digital story/tutorial
using the Educreations app on the ipads.
Educreations is a tool that allows the ipad to record the student’s voice and his/her writing and drawing which can be saved for playback and/or shared online. Educreations can be used to create stories, animations, presentations, etc. You are able to insert images by drawing or inserting a photo taken from the Internet or captured with your ipad camera. Educations is available at no cost in the Apps store and can also be accessed online for free for use on devices with a web browser.
