Kent State Researchers to Develop Mobile App for Cuyahoga Valley National Park

RCET is excited to announce our recent award from the National Science Foundation to develop a mobile app for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). The app will allow CVNP visitors to learn more about the park’s history and ecology and become “citizen scientists" by sharing their findings with others. Led by RCET's Rick Ferdig, Ph.D. (Summit Professor of Learning Technologies and Professor of Instructional Technology at Kent State), the project team includes Annette Kratcoski, Ph.D., RCET director, Cheng-Chang Lu, Ph.D., professor of computer science, and Ruoming Jin, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science, both from Kent State’s College of Arts and Sciences. Also part of the team is biologist Patrick D. Lorch, formerly at Kent State, and now manager of field research for Cleveland Metroparks. Jennie Vasarhelyi, Chief of Interpretation, Education and Visitor Services at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, will be the lead representative for the park.
