Today in the AT&T Classroom our third
graders continued their study of characteristics and features of rocks. They
applied their knowledge of rocks by creating their own Pet Rock using the
ShowMe iPad app. The app allows the iPad to record the student’s voice and his/her
writing and drawing which can be saved for playback and/or shared online.
Students are also able to insert images by drawing or inserting a photo taken
from the Internet or captured with the iPad camera. After researching features
of rocks and rock vocabulary terms, the third graders used ShowMe to create
animations of their “Pet Rock”, explaining the unique features and terms that
characterized their rock. The app can be downloaded at no cost in the App store.
