RCET kicked-off their Creative Technology Tools camp this
morning in the AT&T Classroom. Across the week, participants will be
introduced to variety of web-based programs and tablet apps for creating stories, animations,
and videos. Below is a listing of the tools that the children explored on the
first day of the camp:
Pic Collage is a
free app that children can use to create collages of photos taken with an iPad
or iphone. At this morning’s camp the children decorated their photos by adding
text, stickers, backgrounds, and borders & then presented their creations on
the big screen.
KidPix 3D is a multimedia
program that allows children to create digital projects and animated stories
projects viewable with 3D glasses. Children have access to multi-layered 3D
backgrounds and 100 video backgrounds and can also add narration. KidPix 3D can
be purchased for both Apple & PC platforms at http://www.mackiev.com/kidpix/index.html
SockPuppets is an
iPad app for creating lip-synced puppet videos. The app can be downloaded at no cost from the
itunes App store.
At the end of the morning the
children were introduced to Kodable, an
iPad app that introduces basic elements of coding and programming to young
children. Our upcoming summer camp Secret
Code for the Young Programmer will provide opportunities for campers to
explore Kodable in depth to create games & animation. The camp runs July 21-24,
